Whether or not a person has bad teeth is largely subjective. People have different opinions of what constitutes bad teeth. However, many dental problems are typically associated with bad teeth.
If a person has severe tooth decay that is visibly noticeable, people are likely to consider that to be a sign of bad teeth. Tooth decay is rarely noticeable to others. If a person’s teeth have become so severely decayed that they have brown or black discolorations, it would likely be labeled as a case of bad teeth.
Some people may consider crooked teeth to be bad teeth. While some people may not think so, others may have different standards of what they consider to be “bad.” If the teeth are mildly misaligned, people may not even notice the issue. If the alignment problem is extreme such as teeth are turned the wrong way, jutting out, or causing a significant overbite, they are more likely to be considered crooked teeth.
The good news is that most, if not all, bad teeth can be fixed with appropriate dental or orthodontic care. In cases of severe tooth decay, the teeth may be beyond saving and will need to be extracted. However, the person may be much happier with dentures or other false teeth solutions than having such poor teeth.
The reasons for fixing bad teeth are more than cosmetic. Tooth decay and some other dental problems can cause pain and be prone to infections. Bad teeth can negatively impact the person’s self-esteem and deprive them of self-confidence. It’s sad to see someone so unhappy with their teeth that they will cover their mouths when they talk or laugh.
There are numerous solutions to tooth problems today. People may not be aware of all the options for treating their dental problems. Some people neglect to get dental care due to the cost of treatment. There are some sources of cheap or even free dental work for people who do not have dental insurance.
Many dentists have payment plans that have low or no interest. If the person cannot afford the dental care even with a payment plan, the dentist may know of charities or dental clinics that can help. The dentist may also be able to do the necessary dental work in stages as the person with bad teeth can afford it.
