People of all ages can suffer from rotten teeth. In infancy, a rotten tooth is usually caused by drinking bottles of sugary drinks at bedtime. From childhood through adulthood, rotten teeth can be caused by tooth decay from poor dental hygiene.

Some people’s teeth are not as strong as others due to heredity, so they may be susceptible to tooth decay. In most cases, rotten teeth develop over a long period of time of neglect of proper dental care. A decayed tooth may have started as being sensitive to hot or cold as the tooth enamel begins to wear down.

A cavity may develop which may cause tooth pain. The tooth become discolored at the site of the cavity. If left untreated, the cavity worsens. Though some antiseptic mouthwash is marketed as a way to build up tooth enamel, a cavity requires treatment from a dentist. Though these products may help strengthen tooth enamel, mouthwash and other dental hygiene products cannot replace lost tooth enamel or get rid of cavities.

The untreated cavity gets larger and may affect the inside of the tooth. If the tooth becomes abscessed, the dentist or oral surgeon will need to perform a root canal to save the tooth. If the person continues to neglect to get dental care for the large cavity, the whole tooth may become discolored.

A rotten tooth is not as strong as a healthy tooth. It may eventually crack or break. Rotten teeth cause bad breath and tooth pain. An infection may develop that can cause serious health problems. Though some over-the-counter medication may alleviate the tooth pain, the person should not continue to avoid professional dental care.

The dentist is likely to discuss the best treatment options for the rotten tooth. If the tooth cannot be saved with a root canal, it may have to be removed. A dental implant of a bridge can be used to replace the lost tooth. Replacing the tooth is necessary to prevent other teeth from shifting in the mouth due to the gap where the tooth was. If the rotten tooth was the last molar, the dentist may not feel that a tooth replacement is necessary.

Though people could consider dentures, dental implants, and bridges to be fake teeth, the term “fake teeth” usually refers to novelty teeth. Most fake teeth bought by the general public are used for jokes and costumes. Some people collect different types of fake teeth. Some false teeth are designed to look like the teeth of popular science fiction characters or vampires.

There are many types of false teeth that are used in dentistry to improve a person’s bite and speech. False teeth can replace missing teeth in the form of a bridge or partial denture. Bridges and partial dentures help keep the person’s natural teeth from shifting from the gap from missing teeth. Full dentures are false teeth that replace all of the person’s teeth.

Many designs of novelty teeth are made to look like extremely bad teeth. These are sometimes called hillbilly teeth or Billy Bob teeth. Some of these funny teeth are made to mold to the person’s natural teeth. Some companies that sell funny teeth allow customers to order different sizes determined by mouth measurements.

Fake teeth vary in quality. Companies that make costumes for movies or television make high quality fake teeth for characters. Other novelty teeth are cheap, disposable, one-size-fits-all plastic teeth.

Vampire teeth are a type of fake teeth. The realism of vampire teeth range from the obviously fake plastic teeth to cosmetic dental changes to teeth. The vampire teeth created through cosmetic dentistry may be temporary caps that are secured to the person’s natural teeth. Some cosmetic dentists will perform this procedure for patients right before Halloween and then remove the teeth immediately after Halloween. Vampire fake teeth that are permanently attached to teeth are a type of body modification.

Some fake teeth are cosmetic fake teeth that cover missing or stained teeth. These cosmetic teeth are like dentures that fit over existing teeth. False teeth that fit over existing teeth are not meant to be long-term solutions to cosmetic dental needs. For a long-term treatment option, people who are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth should consult a cosmetic dentist and discuss the various treatment options.

Dental hygiene is extremely important to keep teeth healthy. Proper dental care help prevent cavities and gum disease. Dental hygiene begins with the emergence of the first tooth and continues throughout a person’s lifetime. Brushing teeth, flossing, and regular dentist visits are essential for good oral hygiene.

Infants and toddlers often develop tooth decay due to being put to bed with a bottle containing juice or formula. If an infant or toddler must have a bottle at bedtime, the bottle should contain plain water only. Toddlers can begin to learn how to brush their teeth with their parent’s supervision. Many physicians recommend that children use toothpaste made for children since regular toothpaste contains more fluoride than is healthy for young children.

Brushing teeth removes the plaque from the surface of the teeth. Plaque causes tooth decay. An accumulation of plaque causes tartar which is a hard, scaly substance often seen along the gum line. Tartar can cause gingivitis which is an inflammation of the gums. Inflamed gums may bleed, appear redder than usual, and be sore to the touch.

Untreated cavities and gum disease can lead to tooth loss, tooth abscesses, and infection. If a tooth becomes abscessed, a root canal may be necessary. Infections of the mouth can spread to other parts of the body and lead to serious health problems.

To avoid these problems, frequent brushing, flossing, and regular trips to the dentist are highly recommended. A healthy diet can help keep teeth healthy as well. Dental professionals recommend avoiding sugary snacks, candy, and soda. If a people eat any of these, they should brush their teeth afterwards. Using an antiseptic mouthwash can help decrease the bacteria in the mouth that commonly leads to bad breath.

Orthodontics may not be considered by many people to be part of necessary dental care, but an irregular bite and shifting teeth can cause irregular wear of the teeth. This abnormal wear can make teeth susceptible to dental problems like tooth decay. When someone wears braces, proper dental hygiene is important to prevent permanent staining of the teeth and tooth decay caused by food trapped in the braces.

A denture liner is a thin layer of rubbery or plastic material that is added to a denture to improve fit. The denture liners cover the inside of a denture. Denture liners are used if the gums shrink slightly and the dentures no longer fit securely. The gums of denture wearers do tend to shrink over time, so loose-fitting dentures is a common problem.

When a denture becomes loose, the denture wearer may have difficulty eating and speaking. One option to fix loose dentures is to use a denture adhesive. Many people who wear dentures do not like to have to use adhesive everyday due to cleaning it off the denture and the texture of the denture adhesive paste or powder.

Using a denture liner to reshape the denture is an alternative to adhesives. Denture liners are moldable films that can be shaped to fit securely to the gums. Denture liner kits contain the necessary materials to create a denture liner at home. To make a denture liner with a denture liner kit, the person cuts or tears the denture lining film to the shape of the denture. When the person inserts the denture and bites down, the denture liner assumes the shape of the gums.

The denture liner is designed to last only a few weeks. Like dentures, the denture liner can trap bacteria is not cleaned. However, denture liners require careful cleaning so that the liner isn’t damaged. The manufacturer’s instructions may say that the denture should not be soaked in denture cleaner.

Some users say that removing the denture liner is difficult. Denture wearers need to be careful not to damage the denture while removing the denture liner. Some users wear gloves while removing the denture lining material due to the buildup of bacteria. After the denture liner is removed, the denture can be brushed and put into a denture cleaner with water.

Dentists often recommend that ill-fitting dentures be reshaped with a soft reline or hard reline at the dentist office or denture retailer. A denture liner might be considered a temporary solution to fix loose dentures until the denture wearer can get the dentures relined by a dental professional.

When dentures become cracked or broken, paying for a replacement may not be necessary. Dentures often come with warranties that my cover a denture repair. If the person does not have a current warranty on the dentures or if the warranty does not cover the damage, the denture wearer will need to check options for denture repairs and decide if the broken dentures should be repaired or replaced.

Many dental laboratories specialize in denture repair. Some of these denture repair services offer denture repair through the mail. The dentures are mailed to the laboratory where they are repaired and shipped back to the customer. The customer should realize that they will have to go without those dentures during that time.

If the person seeks denture repairs at the dentist office, the dentures may still need to be sent to a dental laboratory to be repaired. Therefore, denture wearers will have to go without dentures unless they have a spare set of dentures. Someone who is uncomfortable about going without dentures may want to get cheap dentures as a spare set to use while their dentures are being repaired. Some denture services offer cheap dentures that are made while the person waits.

Some dental offices offer same day denture repair. Denture repair is often more affordable than people think. The cost may vary depending on the dental office and the extent of the damage. Some denture retailers advertise denture repairs as low as twenty-nine dollars. A denture service center that offers same day service may save the customer from having to buy another set of dentures to wear while their dentures are getting repaired.

Sometimes, the denture cannot be repaired. A dental professional might suggest that a duplicate denture is made instead of denture repairs. Same day duplication of dentures is offered at some denture retailers and dental practices.

The cost of the duplicate denture depends on the quality of the denture and the dental practice. For a cheap duplicate to be used as a temporary solution until a quality replacement denture is made, some denture services advertise duplicate dentures for one hundred twenty-nine dollars.

Getting dentures requires several dentist office visits and the work of a dental laboratory to craft the dentures. Many people are concerned about denture prices. The initial price of dentures varies by the type of denture and among dental offices. How much do dentures cost includes the denture care products, denture repair, and replacement dentures if necessary.

Full denture cost is estimated at around one thousand dollars or slightly more for the denture. Some full dentures can cost as much as eight thousand dollars. When being fitted for full dentures, the person may also incur costs for three to five dentist office visits. Daily care for dentures is important to keep the denture clean which can prevent the buildup of bacteria and fungus. Brushing the dentures with a denture toothpaste daily and soaking the denture weekly in a denture cleaning product can keep the dentures clean.

Repairing or relining dentures causes additional costs if these procedures are necessary. Relining dentures may cost a few hundred dollars. The cost for repairing broken dentures depends on the amount of damage and the dental practice, but a common cost is between one hundred and three hundred dollars. To avoid damaging the denture by dropping it into the sink while brushing it, partially filling the sink with water is recommended.

Some denture providers specialize in cheap dentures that are available immediately or in a short period of time. These denture offices may sell dentures for approximately eight hundred dollars. Since some customer reviews of these businesses have been unfavorable, a person considering a local denture office may want to check the Better Business Bureau for any information about the local office. The person should ask the denture business about the procedure and costs if the first set of dentures do not fit or function properly. If the cheap dentures have to be replaced, this can double the cost of dentures for that patient.

Partial denture prices typically range from nine hundred dollars to over one thousand dollars. Fitting partial dentures requires more than one dentist visit. Daily brushing and weekly soaking is also necessary to keep the partial dentures free from bacteria and fungus. Partial dentures may require periodic dental visits to adjust the denture.

Warranties on dentures can reduce the costs for repairing or replacing dentures. The patient should discuss the available warranties for the dentures with the dentist. Denture warranties vary in the length of coverage and the procedures that are covered.

A partial denture is a denture that has one or more false teeth attached to a plastic base. Unlike full or complete dentures, partial dentures are used when people have some healthy natural teeth. The partial denture can be used to replace teeth that have been removed. Types of partial dentures include flipper teeth and bridge.

If the partial denture is permanently secured to remaining teeth, the partial denture is called a bridge. Otherwise, the partial denture is removable. A partial denture has a metal frame that allows the denture to be secure in the mouth.

Some people may think that a partial denture is unnecessary if the missing tooth is not a cosmetic concern. However, partial dentures keep the natural teeth from shifting position which could interfere with the person’s bite. Dental implants are an alternative to partial dentures. People in need of dentures should discuss their options with their dentists.

The process of getting partial dentures begins with the dentist taking impressions of the person’s mouth so that the partial denture will have a good fit. The plastic base is made to fit the contours of the gums by a dental laboratory using these impressions. The process of fitting dentures including the initial exam and other dentist office visits to take dental impressions and fit the dentures may take five dental exams.

To care for a partial denture, the person should brush the denture with denture paste at least daily. Partial denture care also includes soaking the denture in water and a commercial denture cleaner like Efferdent. People should avoid sleeping with dentures in their mouths. A partial denture can be kept in a denture cup with water overnight.

The gum area that is covered by the denture during the day still requires dental hygiene. People who wear partial dentures should remove their denture and rinse their mouths with mouthwash every day. Failure to clean the denture and rinse the mouth can lead to a buildup of bacteria which can cause bad breath.

The dentist is likely to recommend follow up visits to check the fit of the denture. If the person experiences any ongoing discomfort, changes in the fit of the partial denture, or dental sores, a dentist visit is recommended to address these problems as soon as possible. Untreated dental sores could lead to infection.

If dentures become loose or ill-fitting, a denture reline may be necessary. Though it is recommended to have dentures relined by a dentist, some over-the-counter denture soft reline kits can be used to reline dentures at home. A denture soft reline kit is considered a temporary fix for adjusting the fit of dentures until the dentures can be permanently relined by the dentist.

Dentures may become uncomfortable and cause sores on the gums. A denture soft reline is the addition of a soft material to the inside of the denture to act as a cushion between the denture and the gums. The soft material can be like rubber or wax. A soft reline of dentures can be done at a dentist’s office or at home with a denture soft reline kit.

The kit for denture soft reline comes with premeasured material that the person mixes according to the package instructions. The mixed material is placed into the denture. When the person inserts the denture and bites, the material sets to form a cushion that fits the gums under the denture.

Some denture users claim that using a denture reline kit eliminated their need for denture adhesive pastes or powders by making the dentures fit more securely. Some users have complained that the process of a denture soft reline with a kit can be messy or create a reline that does not quite fit properly.

Though some denture reline kits are made to create a reline that lasts for up to two years or more, most denture reline kits are made to last for a few months. They are considered a temporary fix until a dentist can perform a soft reline. The dentist may recommend that the dentures that have a soft reline receive a hard reline.

A denture hard reline is a reshaping of the actual denture. Some hard relines require that the dentures be sent to the dental lab which means that the person has to go without their dentures until the hard reline is complete. Some dentists perform hard relines of dentures in the office while the person waits.

Denture prices are often a priority for people who need dentures. The price of dentures may include the cost of office visits and follow up checkups. Dentures come with different warranties as well. When comparing denture prices, the person should ask the dentist offices and denture providers what is included in the price.

Different types of dentures have varying costs. A typical full denture price is slightly more than one thousand dollars. Some dentist offices and denture providers may have denture prices that are well below one thousand dollars. The patient needs to be diligent in determining if the bargain dentures are worth the savings of the initial costs. For example, if the first set of dentures do not fit properly, will the denture service charge for a whole new denture to replace them or are denture fittings included in the price?

High-quality dentures are made from materials to mimic the look of healthy teeth. Though these dentures prices are as high as eight thousand dollars, they tend to look more natural than cheap dentures. These dentures may also come with longer warranties than low price dentures. The person looking for dentures that appear natural may want to consult dentists for the best price, highest quality, and ask what is included in the price. Many denture prices include the costs for follow up dentist visits and minor adjustments.

Cheap dentures can have a denture price as low as a few hundred dollars and as high as eight hundred dollars. Though cheap dentures cost much less than quality dentures, the person may pay for the difference in terms of a lack of comfort as well as a less natural appearance. Many people appreciate the convenience and affordability of places that offer immediate dentures for low denture prices.

Between the high-quality and cheap denture prices is a range of dentures considered to be mid-range. These dentures are more affordable than high-quality dentures, but are typically a higher quality than the cheapest dentures. Mid-range dentures may also include the costs of some follow up appointments and fittings. A common mid-range cost of full dentures is around one thousand dollars.

A dental bridge is one of the options for replacing missing teeth. When someone has a gap caused by missing teeth, the gap can be unsightly and cause more dental problems. The natural teeth near the gap can shift and negatively impact the person’s bite and cause uneven wear of the remaining teeth. Dental bridges are partial dentures that are permanently attached to the teeth on each side of the gap.

The dental bridge has false teeth to replace the missing teeth. The three main types of dental bridges are called traditional bridges, Maryland bonded bridges, and cantilever bridges. These dental bridge types differ in how they are designed to connect to the remaining teeth to form a permanent replacement for missing teeth.

A traditional bridge is a false tooth held in place with crowns on the teeth on each side of the gap. The false tooth or teeth is firmly connected to the crowns. A cantilever dental bridge is secured to only one tooth. A Maryland bonded bridge is secured to the teeth by bonding a metal clip to the teeth surrounding the gap.

To make a bride, the dentist first takes impressions of the person’s teeth. The impressions are used by the dental laboratory to construct the bridge. The dentist may make a temporary bridge to fill the gap until the permanent bridge is finished. After the bridge has been made, another dentist appointment is necessary for the removal of the temporary bridge and installation of the permanent bridge. The dentist may temporarily cement the dental bridge to give the patient a test period to ensure the bridge functions and fits properly before permanently securing the bridge.

Dental bridges may need to be replaced every ten to fifteen years. Proper dental care is necessary to prolong the life of the dental bridge and keep the other teeth and gums healthy. Some people are hesitant to get bridges for fear that the bridge will interfere with eating and speaking. However, the bridge usually makes eating and speaking easier than these activities are with missing teeth.

Dental implants and partial dentures are alternatives to dental bridges. The patient should discuss the treatment options with the dentist to determine which solution to missing teeth is ideal in terms of cost, function, and cosmetic concerns.
