Perfect Teeth

People often want to have perfect teeth. What is considered perfect teeth is typically what is displayed as ideal by models and the media. A general definition of perfect teeth for most people may be teeth without impactions or flaws such as chips, cracks, discolorations, stains, teeth crowding, gaps between the teeth, or misalignment.

When people go to a cosmetic dentist with the desire of improving their smiles, they often have the goal of getting perfect teeth. People may have the idea that they need perfectly white teeth or for their teeth to be made more perfect. The person may have gaps between their teeth that they would like to have made smaller with bonding.

Many people have things about their teeth that they would like to change. Since people may have the idea of having a perfect smile with perfect teeth in mind, it may be difficult for them to understand how slight imperfections can be beneficial. A cosmetic dentist will often describe how much change is beneficial. Some cosmetic dentists use computer programs to show how the recommended improvements will change the person’s smile.

A cosmetic dentist may explain that teeth that are too perfect look fake or unnatural. There is such thing as teeth being too white or too straight. Teeth that look too perfect are often described as resembling piano keys. However, small imperfections can become somewhat of a comfortable or trademark-like feature of a person’s smile.

When a cosmetic dentist performs procedures on a person’s teeth to improve their smile, the dentist may leave slight imperfections. The dentist may not whiten teeth until they are an unnatural bleach white. A dentist may not make someone’s teeth absolutely, perfectly straight. Slight imperfections keep the smile looking natural.

People may not want their smile to change drastically. An extensive change may appear too noticeable for their tastes. They may not want people to realize that they have had dental work done. With small changes, the people who come in contact with the person may notice that the person looks better or looks good with perfect teeth, but they may not be able to pinpoint why.
